Fire meets Ice in this new adventure

Nintendo and SEGA announced “Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice,” a new entry to the “Sonic Boom” series that will be released exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS.

“Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice” is single player game that features important characters, events, and references from the “Sonic Boom” TV show. Just like its predecessor, “Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal,” this upcoming entry will incorporate more speed, exploration and puzzles than before. Furthermore, the brand-new fire and ice gameplay mechanic will help set itself apart from the previous iteration.

Players will be able to use Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Sticks, along with the new playable character, Amy Rose, as they commence another journey to take down Dr. Eggman and the all-new villain, D-Fekt. Within both new and familiar locations, Sonic and his friends will be able to use take advantage of the fire and ice elements in order to interact with the environment. For an instance, players can use the fire ability to melt a block of ice, meanwhile, the ice power can be used to freeze a stream of water.

“Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice” will feature a new mode, called Bot Racing, which ties the single player campaign with multiplayer aspects. Bot Racing focuses on racing and speed, where users can unlock character themed bots to race against friends.

Sanzaru Games, developers of “Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal,” will be constructing this title, whereas, Nintendo will be in charge of the marketing and distribution duties in select territories. SEGA, in the other hand, will remain as the publisher for this upcoming game.

“Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice” is slated to release sometime this winter for North America and Europe.
